When the subject includes lustrous surfaces such as glass, ceramics, tile, or water, or surfaces that glitter, their reflected light is usually polarized.
This Filter eliminates or weakens this reflected light. Accordingly, it renders animals and plants under water and subjects behind lass show windows vividly clear. It also eliminates unwanted reflections from the surfaces of nonmetallic substances and correctly renders surfaces textures. When shooting landscapes, it darkens the blue sky and accentuates white clouds.
Since incident light is most strongly polarized when the angle between the lens optical axis and the reflecting surface ranges approximately from 30° ~ 40, this filter proves most effective when photographing subjects at this angle.
While observing a scene through the finder after mounting the filter on the lens, continue rotating the filter front ring until the undesirable effects of incident light are fully minimized. |
